Baron, a standard poodle, was a gift that Victor Hugo gave to a friend of him that was going to Moscow. Some months after his friend arrived in Moscow, he wrote to Hugo telling him that Baron was missing. After a month, Hugo’s housekeeper opened the door and found a skinny and dirty poodle. Hugo could not believe that he was Baron and decided to keep him. These histories are hard to believe. Baron, according to the story, had to travel many miles, every day, to return at home.
Poodle sense of smell it’s one of the best quality of this breed. The German biologist Alfred Edmund Brehm wrote that “the poodle sense of smell is famous; He uses it to recognize his owners and to find them in case they are missing only by smelling the owner’s clothes.”
