Does everyone can have a poodle?

Absolutely not! Bringing a poodle into your home – as well as any other dog – should not be driven by a mere desire arising from the fact you saw a dog of that breed at an acquaintance’s house or in a movie. Welcoming a poodle into your home means committing to live with him for many years. That’s why it should probably be prohibited to give dogs as gifts because the recipient is not always the right person, or that particular dog breed may not be suitable for that specific family environment or type of home.

Therefore, before deciding to purchase or adopt a poodle, let’s honestly answer the following questions:

  • Am I ready to take care of a dog for the next fifteen years?
  • Does my home have enough space to accommodate a poodle?
  • Do I have the necessary time to take care of the dog every day, including taking it for walks and grooming it?
  • Am I prepared for the challenges that having a poodle may bring during vacations or other events?
  • Can I afford the costs associated with its food, necessary supplies, and veterinary visits?
  • Am I certain that no one in the family is allergic to dog fur hairs?
  • Am I aware that the dog may misbehave, get sick, and will inevitably face challenges as it ages?
  • If I live in a rented house, am I certain that the landlord allows dogs in the apartment?
  • Is everyone in the household agree about having a dog?

If you not answered “yes” to all these questions, my advice is to wait some other time before to adopt a poodle.
